Scarborough Beach State Park Rules
The following rules and regulations are established by Black Point Resource
Management LLC, lessee of Scarborough Beach State Park (the Park), in consultation
with the lessor of the Park, The Bureau of Parks and Lands, Maine Department of
Conservation.
1. Visitors shall pay any fees charged by the Park.
2. Any activities that endanger persons or property or interfere with the
intended use of the facility are prohibited.
3. The removal, molesting, injury or damage of anything natural, physical,
prehistorical, or historical within these areas is strictly prohibited except as outlined
in section 19 regarding hunting and trapping.
4. Feeding or touching wild animals is prohibited. For health and safety reasons,
visitors must put away food securely and leave all areas clean.
5. Glass containers are not allowed on the beach.
6. Day use areas will be open from 9:00 a.m. To one (1) hour before sunset daily,
unless posted otherwise.
7. Use of metal detectors is by permit only which will be issued at the control
station. Found items must be turned in.
8. The use or possession of alcoholic beverages and/or controlled substances is
prohibited.
9. Disorderly conduct, including, but not limited to, intoxication, coarse language
and indecent acts is prohibited.
10. Open fires are allowed only in grills or fireplaces and/or designated sites
provided by the Park. No fires shall be left unattended. No fires are allowed on the
beach.
11. No pets are allowed on the beach from April 1 to November 1. Pets must be
on a leash and under owner control at all times, and must not be left unattended. Pet
owners are required to immediately clean up any fecal deposits left by their pets.
12. The use of all trails, roads, parking areas and other areas shall be limited to
designated uses. Vehicles, including snowmobiles and ATV’s parked in unauthorized
areas may be removed at the owner’s expense.
13. Littering is prohibited. Visitors shall be responsible for carrying out all
their refuse.
14. Soliciting is prohibited.
15. All children under the age of twelve (12) must have adult supervision.
16. The use of flotation devices is allowed but requires adult supervision at all
times. Body boards must have a safety strap.
17. Surfing/boating at the beach requires a permit, which can be purchased at
the control station. (This includes, but is not limited to, surfing, wind surfing,
canoing, kayaking etc.)
18. Discharging of any firearm or weapon is prohibited from or within 300 feet
of any picnic area, parking area, building, shelter, posted trail or other developed
area.
19. Hunting and trapping shall be in accordance with the laws of the State of
Maine, the laws and rules of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife,
Scarborough Town ordinances and the following Park rules:
a. Hunting is not permitted between May 1 and September 30.
B. Trapping may take place only in accordance with the laws of the State of
Maine, the laws and rules of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife,
and Town of Scarborough Ordinances. Written permission must be obtained from the
Bureau of Parks and Lands.
In addition to any criminal and civil sanctions imposed by law, the Park may evict any
person violating these rules or any other State laws or regulations.
